It was another nice weekend here in Cedar Rapids. We spent time doing the usual things, mainly geocaching and disc golf. Our friends Jen, John, and Jacob Danzer topped by on their way out to Colorado. They left their dog, Eva, with us for the week. We call Eva the sister of Alexa because the spent a lot of time together as pups and treat each other differently than they do most other dogs.
James and Mason came over today to show me their latest project, a spud launcher! They like making all kinds of projects and found plans for this in a book. It's basically a 4 foot long cannon made of PVC pipe. You load a potato and push it down in the barrel. Then you spray any kind of aerosol, such as hair spray in the other end. Then you quickly screw on the end cap which has a peizo ignitor built into it. A press of the button causes and spark in the chamber to ignite the spray. It creates a fairly large bang and shoots the potato about 100 feet! I don't think I've ever had so much fun playing with food before.
